The Silence and Nano Bites Profile Photo

The_Silence started photographing his rope work over 5 years ago and shoots multiple times a week. He developed his style through adapting what he’s learned in classes, the internet, and a whole lot of trial & error. Because of his prolific work in rope and photography, he’s had to push himself and gain the knowledge from multiple teachers and sources over the years.

nano_bites is a snarky, bratty exhibitionist that quickly found herself in front of the camera after diving head first into kink. Bites has taught & demo bottomed at the BeachBind, SF Citadel & her second home, VoxBody Studios. In addition to teaching & demo bottoming, she’s performed at Twisted Windows, Bondage Expo Denver & at the Folsom Street fair with the Bay Area Rope Exchange. Fond of challenging ties & positions, she’s happiest when she’s leaving sweat behind on rope.

2018 Class Offerings

BDSM Photography 101

This hands-on class will focus building the foundation of basic portrait photography and applying that knowledge to our lifestyle. The goal is to use composition techniques to capture our scenes and express the emotions through our photos. We’ll cover basics such as the exposure triangle, how to adjust your camera settings to affect the mood of the image, and the use of lighting to affect the mood of the shoot.

Models: we’ll cover how to spot a GWC (guy with camera), negotiations & consent, and tips & tricks for feeling confident in front of the camera.

Although focused on rope bondage photography, the skills are transferable into all forms of kink portraiture. This class will focus on using a DSLR camera. However, some of the topics covered are applicable to those using camera phones.

Crappy Lighting? No problem!

Whether you’re shooting in a studio, dungeon, bedroom, or a cave that you found, let’s talk about different lighting options to help you deliver the results you want. Have 10 strobe lights sitting around and a hardpoint? No problem! Have a cell phone, a bottom, and 30 minutes alone in your cousin’s basement? No problem! In this hands-on class, we’ll explore how to manipulate light & shadows to create an awesome photo. We’ll touch on composition basics, but this class is focused on lighting: qualities of light, light sources & light mods. This class is designed to include audience participation & will include a demo on how to light a scene in the dungeon using available light sources and flash.
